Description of the facility

Prešeren’s Birth House is poorly accessible. An adapted parking space is provided at the nearest parking lot. The sloped path leading to the entrance is not properly paved and is too steep for independent use by a wheelchair user. Inside the house, there are high thresholds and low door frames. Restrooms are located in a neighboring building, but they are not adapted for mobility impaired persons.

Adaptations:

Mobility impaired:

  • An adapted parking space is arranged at the nearest parking lot.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • no adaptations.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • no adaptations.

Deficiencies:

Mobility impaired:

  • the ramp leading to the entrance does not have an appropriate slope and is paved with cobblestones,
  • the threshold at the main entrance is too high,
  • height differences inside are not properly bridged,
  • there is insufficient maneuvering space inside,
  • there are no adapted restrooms in the building.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • there are sudden transitions from light to dark areas inside the building,
  • height obstacles in the form of low door frames are not contrast-marked,
  • edges of height differences are not contrast-marked,
  • selected exhibits do not allow tactile exploration of display materials.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • the building is not equipped with a hearing loop,
  • it is not properly illuminated and does not allow lip reading or reading of facial expressions.
