Description of the facility

The museum is poorly accessible and located in a corner of the Vrbovec Castle premises. Access to the museum entrance is via a very steep ramp, preventing independent use for wheelchair users. Inside, different types of flooring (bark, sand, wooden bridge) make access difficult throughout the spaces. The museum has no adapted sanitary facilities. Exhibits allow experiential engagement.

Adaptations:

Mobility impaired:

  • Accessible parking space near the entrance,
  • Reception desk is height-adjusted,
  • Interior height differences are compensated (indoor ramp),
  • Sufficient maneuvering space inside.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • Entrance is clearly recognizable,
  • Reception desk is near the entrance,
  • No sudden transitions from bright to dark areas inside,
  • Exhibits allow tactile exploration.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • No significant adaptations.

Deficiencies:

Mobility impaired:

  • Accessible parking is too small and not properly marked,
  • Entrance is not accessible due to the steep ramp,
  • No adapted sanitary facilities,
  • Exhibits are not at appropriate heights for wheelchair users.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • Text elements of exhibits are not at appropriate heights,
  • Information is provided only visually,
  • Height obstacles are not properly marked (protruding exhibits).

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • Reception desk is not well-lit and does not allow lip reading or reading facial expressions,
  • No hearing loop in the building.
