Description of the facility

The museum collection represents one of the several locations of the Carinthian Regional Museum. The museum collection is housed on the ground floor of the building by the main square and is poorly accessible.   
The access area has a vestibule that is too narrow and a reception desk whose height is not adapted to wheelchair users. The exhibition spaces are relatively small and repeatedly separated by stairs. The museum does not have accessible toilet rooms. 

Adaptations: 

People with mobility impairments: 

  • There are no adaptations. 

People with visual impairments: 

  • The reception desk is located in the immediate vicinity of the entrance, 
  • There are no abrupt transitions from light to dark spaces in the building, 
  • The signage and lettering in the building have contrasting visual markings and are readable, 
  • The edges of stairs have contrasting visual markings. 

People with hearing impairments: 

  • The reception desk is adequately lit and enables lip-reading and interpreting facial expressions. 

Deficiencies: 

People with mobility impairments: 

  • The width of the entrance is inadequate, 
  • The changes of level in the interior of the building are not adequately addressed, 
  • There is not sufficient room to manoeuvre indoors, 
  • The building does not have a lifting platform or powered stairlift, 
  • The building does not have accessible sanitary facilities. 

People with visual impairments: 

  • The glazed glass doors do not have contrasting visual markings, 
  • The edges of the changes of level do not have contrasting visual markings. 

People with hearing impairments: 

  • The reception desk is not equipped with an induction loop.
