Description of the facility

The library is well accessible. The main deficiency in the accessibility of the building is the layout of the outdoor area. The adapted parking space is marked but too small. The path to the entrance is made as a long ramp paved with cubes.
Inside, there is sufficient maneuvering space. Adapted restrooms are located near the entrance. The reception desk is height-adjusted. A hearing loop is also provided, installed throughout the space and can be used in the part designated for exhibitions and small events.
The library also offers adapted materials and equipment for blind and visually impaired people.

Adaptations:

Mobility impaired:

  • the adapted parking space is marked but too small,
  • the main entrance to the building is accessible,
  • the reception desk is height-adjusted for wheelchair users,
  • there is sufficient maneuvering space inside,
  • adapted restrooms are provided inside the building,
  • the arrangement of bookshelves allows access with a wheelchair.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • the reception desk is located near the entrance,
  • there are no sudden transitions from bright to dark spaces inside the building,
  • the library provides audiobooks and adapted materials,
  • an electronic magnifier is available in the library.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • the entire library is equipped with a hearing loop,
  • the reception desk is properly lit and allows lip reading and reading facial expressions.

Deficiencies:

Mobility impaired:

  • the path to the entrance is paved with granite cubes,
  • the ramp does not have an appropriate slope or handrails,
  • access from the interior to the terrace is possible only via stairs.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • the path to the entrance is not marked with tactile floor indicators.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • no major deficiencies.
