Description of the facility

The ground floor of the building (Puppet Theatre) is poorly accessible for mobility-impaired individuals. The upper floors of the building (Šentjakobsko Theatre and Stage under the Stars) are partially accessible. Adapted parking spaces in the immediate vicinity of the building are not provided; parking is organized as part of city parking.

The ticket office and store are located on the right side of the building, have a separate entrance, and are accessible for wheelchair users.

The entrance to the ground floor of the Puppet Theatre is via a ramp without a landing. The small stage of the Puppet Theatre has no reserved spaces for wheelchair users; the hall only has fixed seats. A long ramp is provided to access the seats. The large stage of the Puppet Theatre is not accessible due to stairs in the hall and also has no spaces reserved for wheelchair users. Sanitary facilities in the basement are only accessible via stairs and are not adapted. Hearing loops are not provided in the halls.

Access to the first and second floors is via an external elevator, located on the side facade of the building (left of the entrance).

The Šentjakobsko stage hall on the first floor has no spaces reserved for wheelchair users. Wheelchair users can watch performances from the area in front of the stage. An adapted sanitary facility is available on this floor. A hearing loop is provided in the hall.

The “Stage under the Stars” hall on the second floor has flat floors and movable seats. An adapted sanitary facility is available, but access is only possible through the hall due to stairs in the corridor. No hearing loop is provided in this hall.

Seats in the halls are not contrastive (except for the “Large Stage”); the marking and lighting of stairs in the halls are insufficient.

Adaptations:

Mobility impaired:

  • The main entrance is accessible via a ramp without a landing (no doorbell at the entrance),
  • There is sufficient maneuvering space in the lobbies and in the “Stage under the Stars” hall,
  • The building has an external elevator for access to the first and second floors,
  • Adapted sanitary facilities are available in the building (for halls on the 1st and 2nd floors).

Blind and visually impaired:

  • The entrance to the Puppet Theatre (ground floor) is clearly identifiable,
  • Elevator buttons are tactile (relief).

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • The Šentjakobsko stage hall is equipped with a hearing loop,
  • Rooms are adequately sound-insulated.

Deficiencies:

Mobility impaired:

  • No parking spaces are provided in the immediate vicinity of the entrance; marked parking spaces are 120m away (at the market),
  • The path to the other main entrance via the elevator to the 1st and 2nd floors is not marked,
  • The steep ramp without a landing at the main entrance does not have an appropriate slope and is not properly protected,
  • Height differences to basement spaces (sanitary facilities) are not properly bridged; there is no elevator,
  • There are no adapted sanitary facilities on the ground floor (they are in the basement, accessible via stairs),
  • The large stage of the Puppet Theatre is not accessible due to stairs in the hall,
  • None of the three halls have spaces reserved for wheelchair users.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • The signage board at the main entrance is inadequate,
  • There are sudden transitions from light to dark areas in the building,
  • Signs and labels are not at appropriate heights and are not contrastive or legible,
  • Edges of stairs to basement spaces and within halls are not contrast-marked.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • At least some performances do not include captions,
  • The “Small Stage,” “Large Stage,” and “Stage under the Stars” halls are not equipped with a hearing loop.
