Description of the facility

The library is poorly accessible. An accessible parking space for mobility-impaired users is available near the entrance. The library is located on the first floor of the cultural center building. There is a 15 mm threshold at the entrance. There is no elevator in the building. Access to the library spaces is via stairs, which are not contrast-marked.
In the ground floor, opposite the entrance, there is a call device allowing mobility-impaired users to contact the library staff. Adapted sanitary facilities are available on the ground floor.

Adaptations:

Mobility impaired:

Blind and visually impaired:

  • loan desk on the first floor is near the library entrance,
  • signage and labels are contrastive and legible,
  • accessible materials and audiobooks are available in the library.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • loan desk is well-lit and allows lip reading and reading of facial expressions.

Shortcomings:

Mobility impaired:

  • entrance has a 15 mm threshold,
  • level differences inside are not adequately bridged,
  • there is no elevator in the building.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • glass doors are not contrast-marked,
  • door thresholds are not contrast-marked,
  • loan desk window is not contrast-marked,
  • there are sudden transitions from light to dark areas,
  • signage is not at appropriate heights and lacks contrast,
  • one-sided handrail along stairs does not extend beyond the step edges.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • loan desk is not equipped with a hearing loop (not mandatory),
  • loan desk is positioned with windows behind it,
  • desk glazing is reflective and glossy.
