Description of the facility

The bookstore and stationery shop are partially accessible. The stationery shop is located on the ground floor, the bookstore on the first floor, and is accessible via stairs or an elevator at the side entrance. Sales and information counters, as well as maneuvering space between some shelves, are inadequate for wheelchair users. The lighting is adequate, except for the staircase. The bookstore also has an event corner with movable seating.
The bookstore also has a separate office for picking up ordered materials, “Blue House,” on the ground floor of the building’s atrium, accessible through the side entrance.

Adaptations:

Mobility impaired:

  • the main entrance to the building for ground floor access is accessible,
  • access to the bookstore is provided via the side entrance with an elevator,
  • automatic sliding doors at the side entrance,
  • a ramp is provided for access to the “Blue House,” allowing independent use,
  • an appropriately sized elevator is available in the building (side entrance),

Blind and visually impaired:

  • edges of level changes are contrast marked,
  • sales areas are well lit.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • the reception counter is properly lit and allows lip reading and reading facial expressions,
  • the glazing of the reception counter is not reflective or shiny.

Deficiencies:

Mobility impaired:

  • there is no parking space near the building, as it is located in the city center,
  • the main entrance has no signage for the side entrance with elevator,
  • heavy doors at the main and side entrance,
  • sales and information counters are not height-adjusted for wheelchair users,
  • in certain areas of the bookstore and stationery shop, the maneuvering space between shelves is too narrow,
  • there are no adapted sanitary facilities in the building (not a required condition).

Blind and visually impaired:

  • advertising signs on the stair fronts are distracting and pose a walking hazard,
  • stairs are poorly lit.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • sales and information counters and the event corner are not equipped with a hearing loop.
