UIRS accessibility assessment
Description of the facility
Narodni dom is inaccessible for people with mobility impairments and partially accessible for people with other impairments.
Access is possible through the main entrance, which features a ramp and step, or the side entrance at the back of the building. The building has three floors and does not feature a lift (the lift is planned to be installed next year), so the hall is not accessible for wheelchair users.
The great hall with moveable seating is on the first floor, while the hall balconies are on the second floor.
There are partly accessible sanitary facilities on the ground floor, but the doors are too narrow (77 cm).
The ticket counter is located in the immediate vicinity of the side entrance, not the main entrance.
The hall is not equipped with an induction loop.
Adaptations:
People with mobility impairments:
- The side entrance is adapted for wheelchairs,
- There is sufficient room to manoeuvre indoors,
- The hall has designated spaces for wheelchairs, but access to the hall balconies on the 1st floor is not possible due to the stairs,
- The building has partially accessible sanitary facilities (too narrow doors, 77 cm width).
People with visual impairments:
- The main entrance to the building is easily recognizable,
- The signboard at the main entrance is suitable,
- The window of the ticket counter has contrasting visual markings,
- There are no abrupt transitions from light to dark spaces in the building,
- The signage and lettering in the building are placed at suitable heights, have contrasting visual markings and are readable,
- The edges of stairs have contrasting visual markings.
People with hearing impairments:
- The ticket counter glazing is non-reflective or non-glaring,
- The hall has adequate sound insulation.
Deficiencies:
People with mobility impairments:
- The building main entrance is not accessible (due to the steep ramp and stairs),
- The gradient of the ramp is not suitable and it is not adequately secured,
- The height of the ticket counter is not adapted to wheelchair users,
- The changes of level in the interior of the building are not adequately addressed,
- The building does not have a lift.
People with visual impairments:
- The glazed glass doors do not have contrasting visual markings,
- The ticket counter is not located in the immediate vicinity of the entrance, but near the side entrance,
- The path to the remote reception desk is not marked with tactile floor markings.
People with hearing impairments:
- The hall and ticket counter are not equipped with an induction loop,
- The ticket counter is not adequately lit and does not enable lip-reading and interpreting facial expressions (it is taped over),
- Subtitles are not provided at events.
