Description of the facility

The library is partially accessible. At the entrance, in the vestibule, there is insufficient maneuvering space for users of powered wheelchairs (due to a turn in the hallway).
The main library space is located on the ground floor and is accessible via the main entrance. For parts of the library that are only accessible internally via stairs, an additional side entrance with ramps at the rear of the building is provided for wheelchair users. There is sufficient maneuvering space between the shelves.
The gallery room in the building is accessible from the library only via stairs or from the outside via a small grassy area, which is not suitable for wheelchair access. There are no adapted sanitary facilities in the building.

Adaptations:

Mobility impaired:

  • Side entrance with ramps provided for the part of the library only accessible internally via stairs,
  • Reception desk is height-adjusted for wheelchair users,
  • Sufficient maneuvering space inside,
  • Arrangement of bookshelves allows access with a wheelchair.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • The entrance is clearly recognizable,
  • The reception desk is located near the entrance,
  • Accessible materials are available (audiobooks, large print books).

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • Reception desk is well-lit and allows lip reading and reading of facial expressions.

Deficiencies:

Mobility impaired:

  • Accessible parking is not provided,
  • Access to the side entrance is not marked,
  • The ramp at the side entrance is not safeguarded,
  • Height differences inside are not properly bridged (part of the library is only accessible via side entrance; gallery room is inaccessible due to stairs),
  • No adapted sanitary facilities in the building.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • The building is not adequately marked,
  • Glass doors leading to the children’s section are not contrast-marked,
  • Edges of stairs and level changes are not contrast-marked.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • The reception desk is not equipped with a hearing loop.
