Description of the facility

The library is easily accessible. It is located on the third floor of the Vrhnika Cultural Centre. The entrance to the library from the car park is not easily recognizable or marked. The building entryway hall does not have clear signage on library access; the stairs and lift are not easily recognizable.
The library counter is visible upon exiting the lift. There is enough room to manoeuvre between the bookshelves and in the computer room. The library has accessible sanitary facilities. 

Adaptations:

People with mobility impairments:

  • There is an accessible parking spot near the entrance,
  • The main entrance to the building is accessible via a gently sloping ramp,
  • The height of the library counter is adapted to wheelchair users, 
  • There is a suitably sized lift in the building for access to the third floor,
  • There are no changes of level inside the library and there is sufficient room to manoeuvre,
  • The hall features movable seating,
  • The building has accessible sanitary facilities,
  • The layout of the bookshelves enables wheelchair access.

People with visual impairments:

  • There are no architectural adaptations.
  • The library has adapted material (audiobooks, books with large print).

People with hearing impairments:

  • The reception desk is adequately lit and enables lip-reading and interpreting facial expressions,
  • The library counter glazing is non-reflective or non-glaring.

  • The entrance to the building is not easily recognizable,
  • The glazed glass doors do not have contrasting visual markings,
  • The library counter is not located in the immediate vicinity of the entrance,
  • The path to the remote library counter is not marked with tactile floor markings,
  • The window of the library counter does not have contrasting visual markings,
  • The signage and lettering in the building are not placed at suitable heights, do not have contrasting visual markings and are not readable,
  • The lift does not convey information audibly, 
  • The lift buttons do not have raised tactile letters.

People with hearing impairments:

  • The library counter and hall are not equipped with an induction loop.
