We at NSIOS are proud to see the first visible results of the project.As the first retailer in Slovenia, Lidl has joined us as a provider. Thus, on the 15th of the month (or one day earlier in case of a holiday), holders of the EU Benefits Card for Persons with Disabilities will receive a 10% discount upon presentation of the card.In addition to Lidl, the following have joined the campaign:Istrabenz Turizem Lifeclass Hotels & Spa (Grand Hotel Portorož, Hotel Riviera, Hotel Apollo, Hotel Neptun, Hotel Mirna, Terme Portorož – thermal water pools, medical center, and thalasso center), Terme Topolščica, and the Šaleška Valley Tourist Board.On April 24, 2024, we conducted a workshop for employees at administrative units together with MDDSZ.At NSIOS, we are aware that employees at administrative units encounter individuals with various forms and types of disabilities on a daily basis. With the workshop, we provided information and shared experiences that will facilitate easier and uninterrupted work without unnecessary awkwardness when faced with different types of disabilities. Representatives from MDDSZ introduced them to the Law on Equalizing the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and measures for equalizing opportunities for persons with disabilities. We informed them about the processes for training assistance dogs and presented technical aids for overcoming communication barriers. The workshop was very well received, and we plan to organize it again in October.We also invite you to visit our revamped website www.nsios.si/en/, where we have updated accessibility and all plugins. It is aligned with WCAG standards, which dictate accessibility to information and communication. In the coming months, we will completely revamp the website and the application www.invalidska-kartica.si/en/.As part of the Youth Activities, which includes the Mini Performance School led by experienced instructors Lucija Ćirović and Boštjan Štorman, the participants of the school were introduced to performing in front of a camera for the first time and filmed the first promotional video for the EU Benefits Card for Persons with Disabilities, which we premiered at the General Assembly of the European Disability Forum in Ljubljana. The film received a lot of enthusiasm. You can register via email.As part of the workshops for youth, we hosted the workshop “I am a Person with a Disability” at the following schools and kindergartens: Novo Mesto School Center, Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana, First Primary School in Slovenj Gradec, and Kindergarten Hans Christian Andersen.We are pleased with the response from persons with disabilities with successful stories who will participate in the photography exhibition. The first photo shoots are already taking place.
