UIRS accessibility assessment
Description of the facility
The Kalia Garden Center is partially accessible.
A bus stop is located near the building, but it is poorly accessible and not suitable for blind, visually impaired, or wheelchair users.
Several adapted parking spaces are located near the entrance. The store is situated on the ground floor of the building. The entrance is difficult to detect but easily accessible for wheelchair users.
The sales counter is located near the entrance. The counter is too high and not accessible to wheelchair users, and its glass surface is reflective and shiny, making lip reading difficult. Inside and outside the store, some shelves are positioned too high. Certain aisles between the shelves are too narrow and inaccessible to wheelchair users. Shelf labels are sufficiently contrasting but too small. From the indoor area, visitors can access the outdoor section through glass sliding doors, which are accessible but poorly visible and inadequately marked with contrasting signage.
Adaptations
For persons with mobility impairments:
- there is an adapted parking space near the entrance,
- the main entrance to the building is accessible,
- the main entrance has automatic (sliding) doors.
For the blind and visually impaired:
- the entrance to the building is clearly recognizable,
- the building is marked with an appropriate information board,
- the counter is located near the entrance,
- there are no sudden transitions from bright to dark areas inside the building.
For the deaf and hard of hearing:
- the counter is positioned so that there are no windows behind it.
Deficiencies
For persons with mobility impairments:
- some adapted parking spaces are not properly marked with vertical signage,
- the adapted parking spaces do not meet standard dimensions,
- the counter is not height-adjusted for wheelchair users,
- there is insufficient maneuvering space between shelves for wheelchair users,
- the layout of display shelves does not allow access for wheelchair users.
For the blind and visually impaired:
- the glass doors are not adequately marked with contrasting symbols,
- signs and labels in the building are not placed at suitable heights,
- signs and labels in the building lack sufficient contrast and legibility,
- the path is obstructed by hazardous objects.
For the deaf and hard of hearing:
- the counter is not equipped with a hearing loop for hard-of-hearing persons,
- the glass surface of the counter is reflective and shiny.
