Description of the facility

The Kalija Garden Center is poorly accessible.

The designated parking space for persons with mobility impairments is located directly next to the building but is inadequately marked and smaller than standard dimensions. A ramp of appropriate width and slope leads to the entrance. The entrance has sliding doors that provide a sufficiently wide passage.

Inside the store, the main aisles are adequately wide, but the side aisles — especially those perpendicular to the shelves or located in corners — are too narrow. Some front passages leading to the shelves are also difficult to access. Movement with a wheelchair is further obstructed in some areas by display elements that protrude from shelves or are placed on the floor. Certain elements extend into the overhead clearance and may pose a hazard for blind or visually impaired persons.

The passage near the checkout counter is too narrow. The counter itself is at a suitable height and equipped with a movable POS terminal.

In the outdoor section of the store, the main paths are also wide enough, but some side passages are too narrow.

The facility is not equipped with a hearing loop.

Adaptations

For persons with mobility impairments:

  • the entrance ramp is of appropriate dimensions and slope,
  • the sliding entrance doors are sufficiently wide,
  • the vestibule is of appropriate size,
  • the main aisles inside the store are wide enough,
  • the checkout counter is at a suitable height.

For the blind and visually impaired:

  • the signage at the entrance is large and high-contrast,
  • main labels and price tags on products are large and sufficiently contrasting.

For the deaf and hard of hearing:

  • there are no significant adaptations for deaf or hard-of-hearing persons in the facility.

Deficiencies

For persons with mobility impairments:

  • most side aisles are too narrow for wheelchair passage or maneuvering,
  • the lowest and highest shelves are not within accessible reach,
  • the passage at the checkout counter is too narrow.

For the blind and visually impaired:

  • some elements (such as flower display counters) extend into the overhead clearance and may pose a hazard for blind and visually impaired persons.

For the deaf and hard of hearing:

  • the facility is not equipped with a hearing loop.
