Description of the facility

Žička Kartuzija is difficult to access. The monastic complex is a protected cultural heritage site. In the immediate vicinity of the Gastuž information building, in front of the entrance to the monastic complex, there is a small unmarked parking area, while a larger marked parking lot is located further away and accessible by road. There are no designated or adapted parking spaces.
The Gastuž building houses a tourist information center and a restaurant. The entrance to the building is partially obstructed by a threshold, preventing wheelchair users from entering. The main restaurant rooms are located on the first floor, accessible only by stairs. The outdoor terrace is equipped with a ramp and is therefore accessible to wheelchair users. The tourist information center offers guided tours, an audio guide, and multilingual brochures with a map of sightseeing points. The sanitary facilities in the building are not adapted and are inaccessible to wheelchair users.
All accessible routes for the guided tour of the monastic complex are gravel and are in some parts better or worse maintained. Wheelchair users have partial access to the museum building, the farm building, a small herb shop, the monastic garden, and the Church of St. John the Baptist, which can also be entered. Partial access is also possible to the ruins of the refectory and kitchen.
The entrance to the museum building is obstructed by stairs. As part of the exhibition, a projection is shown that connects to the audio guide. The sanitary facilities in the building are not adapted and are inaccessible to wheelchair users.
