Description of the facility

The amphitheatre of the Slovene National Theatre Nova Gorica is partially accessible.
The shortest accessible route from the nearest bus stop to the main entrance runs along the sidewalk, past the SNG Nova Gorica staff parking area, through the park, and along the rear part of the building via three ramps. The route is not marked with direction signs or tactile and contrasting ground markings.
In the SNG Nova Gorica staff parking area, there are two parking spaces designated for wheelchair users.
In the amphitheatre, spaces for wheelchair users are provided along the entire first row, with level access. If a person comes with a companion, a seat is provided directly next to them.
The higher seating levels of the amphitheatre are reached by steep stairs with varying depths, without handrails and without contrasting edge markings. During performances, the stairs are illuminated at all times. The top of the amphitheatre can also be reached by stairs at the back of the building.
Row numbers and areas for wheelchair users are marked with floor markings, but these are not sufficiently contrasting.
Stage access is not possible for performers using wheelchairs.
The sanitary facilities, including those adapted for wheelchair users, have an external entrance and are located near the amphitheatre entrance. They are accessed via a steep ramp without handrails or tactile and contrasting floor markings.

Adaptations

Mobility impaired:

  • the main entrance to the building is accessible,
  • there is sufficient maneuvering space inside the building for wheelchair users,
  • adapted sanitary facilities are available in the building,
  • designated spaces for wheelchair users are provided in the amphitheatre.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • no major adaptations are available for blind or visually impaired persons.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • no major adaptations are available for deaf or hard of hearing persons.

Deficiencies

Mobility impaired:

  • the adapted parking space is not properly marked,
  • the adapted parking space is not of appropriate dimensions,
  • the ramps along the accessible route and the ramp in front of the sanitary facilities do not have an adequate slope,
  • the ramps along the accessible route and the ramp in front of the sanitary facilities are not properly secured.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • the building entrance is not easily recognizable,
  • there is no signboard next to the main entrance,
  • glass doors are not marked with contrasting strips,
  • signs and labels inside the building are not contrasting or legible,
  • the main staircases in the amphitheatre are not protected,
  • stair edges are not marked with contrasting colors,
  • edges of height differences are not marked with contrasting colors.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • necessary information is not provided visually for deaf persons (e.g. subtitles during performances/events),
  • the amphitheatre is not equipped with a hearing loop.
