Description of the facility

The Slovenian Theatre Institute is partially accessible, but inaccessible for wheelchair users. The building is a protected cultural heritage site.
There are no marked accessible parking spaces in the immediate vicinity of the building. It is located near a bus stop, from which a paved sidewalk leads to the entrance.
Access to the building’s courtyard is possible from Mestni trg and from Cankarjevo nabrežje. Both entrances are clearly recognizable. The main and side entrances are accessed via external stairs. For wheelchair users, the side entrance can be unlocked, and a portable ramp can be installed upon prior arrangement.
Since there is no reception desk in the building, entry requires ringing the doorbell or calling the phone number displayed on the signs near the entrances.
The Institute’s premises are located on the first and second floors of the building, accessible by the main staircase or by an elevator, which is reached through the side entrance. The elevator is not large enough for wheelchair users, and access to the main rooms is further obstructed by steps on both the first and second floors. Because the level differences are not adequately bridged, all areas are inaccessible to wheelchair users.
The first-floor program includes a hall, a library, and a reading room. Library materials can be provided by staff upon request and prepared in the reading room. By prior arrangement, materials are also available for borrowing. The hall is equipped with movable chairs, as the space is used for various programs and exhibitions. The second-floor program includes a permanent exhibition area. The permanent exhibition features a video guide in Slovenian Sign Language with subtitles and includes several tactile models. The hall and other rooms are not equipped with a hearing loop.
There are no adapted sanitary facilities in the building.
