Description of the facility

Description of the Facility

The museum operates in two locations.
The unit *Likovni salon Kočevje* (Art Gallery Kočevje) is not accessible.
It is located about 100 meters from the main bus station.
Approximately 100 meters from the entrance, there is one partially adapted parking space for persons with mobility impairments. The entrance to the building is recognizable, but there are three steps leading to the entrance door, without a ramp or lifting platform, making access for wheelchair users impossible. Behind the entrance, several interior stairs lead to the exhibition area. The building does not have a rear or side entrance that would be adapted. There is no reception desk or ticket counter. The height of the exhibited artworks is mostly too high, as are their descriptions. There are no restroom facilities in this museum unit. The passage between the first and second exhibition rooms is too narrow and low.

Adaptations

For persons with mobility impairments:

  • a partially adapted parking space is located near the entrance.

For the blind and visually impaired:

  • the entrance to the building is clearly recognizable,
  • there are no sudden transitions from bright to dark spaces inside the building,
  • signs and labels in the building are contrasting and legible.

For the deaf and hard of hearing:

  • the reception area is well-lit, allowing for lip reading and reading facial expressions.

Deficiencies

For persons with mobility impairments:

  • the adapted parking space is marked but not of appropriate dimensions,
  • the entrance to the building is not accessible due to stairs,
  • the height difference at the entrance is not properly bridged,
  • height differences inside the building are not properly bridged,
  • there are no adapted restrooms in the building (restrooms are not available),
  • the exhibits in the exhibition rooms are not positioned at suitable heights for wheelchair users.

For the blind and visually impaired:

  • there is no adequate information board at the main entrance,
  • signs and labels in the building are not placed at appropriate heights,
  • the edges of stairs are not marked in contrast,
  • the path is obstructed by hazardous objects (the passage between exhibition rooms),
  • the exhibits do not allow for tactile exploration of the displayed materials.

For the deaf and hard of hearing:

  • the building is not equipped with a hearing loop.
