UIRS accessibility assessment
Description of the facility
The Ormega MM facility is partially accessible.
It is located within a commercial building and offers partial accessibility.
The facility has its own parking spaces, which can be used by clients upon prior arrangement.
There are two entrances to the facility — one next to the parking area and another on the side of the building. The first entrance is slightly narrow and has a high threshold on the inside, bridged with a ramp. The second entrance is adequately wide but has a slightly higher threshold, making independent access for wheelchair users difficult.
The reception area is spacious enough. The desk is at an appropriate height but, due to its shape, does not allow a frontal approach for wheelchair users.
The showroom or testing area is suitably arranged; most of the equipment is movable, allowing the space to be adapted to visitors’ needs. Upon prior notice, materials and documents can be provided in accessible formats for blind or visually impaired persons.
The entrance to the restroom is too narrow, and the maneuvering space inside is insufficient. The space in front of the toilet and sink is obstructed by the door. The toilet is not equipped with grab bars.
The facility is not equipped with a hearing loop.
Adaptations
For persons with mobility impairments:
- the side entrance threshold is bridged with a ramp,
- the reception area or office allows unobstructed wheelchair maneuvering,
- the reception desk is at an appropriate height,
- the restroom sink is at a suitable height and allows wheelchair access,
- the showroom or testing area is well organized and can be adjusted individually,
- the hallways are wide enough,
- the entrance from the parking area is sufficiently wide.
For the blind and visually impaired:
- the side entrance is clearly recognizable (the signage and information are at an appropriate height and sufficiently contrasting).
For the deaf and hard of hearing:
- there are no significant adaptations for deaf or hard-of-hearing persons in the facility.
Deficiencies
For persons with mobility impairments:
- the door handle at the side entrance is mounted too high,
- the ramp at the side entrance is too steep,
- a frontal approach to the reception desk is not possible,
- the restroom is too small,
- the restroom entrance is too narrow,
- the toilet is not equipped with grab bars,
- the entrance from the parking area has a small threshold, which hinders access for manual wheelchair users.
For the blind and visually impaired:
- the facility lacks tactile and high-contrast floor markings and other tactile or contrasting indicators.
For the deaf and hard of hearing:
- the facility is not equipped with a hearing loop.
