UIRS accessibility assessment
Description of the facility
The museum is very well accessible. An adapted parking space is located at the back of the building, where a side entrance with a ramp is also provided. The museum’s premises are spread over several floors, which are accessible via contrast-marked stairs and an elevator. In some areas, height differences are overcome with ramps.
The museum is exceptionally well adapted for blind and visually impaired visitors. Pathways are marked with tactile floor indicators, each floor features tactile maps and Braille signage, and multimedia stations with both visual and audio content are available throughout the building.
The museum also houses the **Children’s Museum Herman’s Den**, which includes a playroom with games and books for the blind, as well as a small **Herman’s Stage** hall with movable seating.
Accessible sanitary facilities are available in the museum.
