UIRS accessibility assessment
Description of the facility
The Mladinska knjiga bookstore branch on Trubarjeva Street in Ljubljana is poorly accessible.
The bus stop (Dragon Bridge) is located about a five-minute walk from the bookstore. The path from the bus stop to the bookstore is not equipped with tactile markings and is not contrasting.
The entrance is visually recognizable, as it has a white frame that contrasts with the surroundings, and it is surrounded by postcard stands. Next to the entrance door, there is an information board with opening hours, which is hidden behind the stands and has text that is too small.
Access to the part of the bookstore where the shelves with office/art supplies and maps are located is obstructed by a step and therefore inaccessible to wheelchair users. In most parts of the bookstore (except near the cash register), there is not enough maneuvering space, as tables and cabinets with merchandise obstruct movement. The passages are narrow. Some shelves are too high, while the tables with products are lower and therefore easier to reach. Lighting is adequate.
The cash register is located right by the entrance, with enough maneuvering space beside it.
Product prices and category labels are too small. The store does not offer books adapted for people with special needs, but audiobooks are available through the Mladinska knjiga PLUS app (a monthly or annual subscription is required).
There is no hearing loop in the bookstore.
The bookstore does not have adapted sanitary facilities.
