Description of the facility

The store is well accessible. The store is located in the Planet Koper shopping center.
The bus stop is nearby and can be reached through the parking garage. The accessible route is too narrow in parts of the garage and in the roadway area, making it inaccessible for blind and visually impaired people as well as wheelchair users.
Marked accessible parking spaces are available on all floors of the parking garage and near the entrance to the outdoor parking lot. Parking meters are located inside the shopping center.
The store premises are on the first floor. Access is provided via elevator or escalator.
The entrance doors of the Mladinska Knjiga store are always open. The sales counter is not directly near the entrance. The sales counter and most of the main space are fully accessible. In some parts of the main space, there are narrow passages between shelves and other objects, making maneuvering difficult for wheelchair users. Lighting in the space is adequate. The bookstore also offers a well-arranged children’s corner. Assistance is provided by staff if needed.
The shopping center is also equipped with accessible restrooms.

Adaptations

Mobility impaired:

  • an accessible parking space is near the entrance,
  • the main entrance is accessible,
  • there is a suitably sized elevator for wheelchair users,
  • accessible restrooms are available in the building.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • the entrance is clearly recognizable,
  • the building is marked with an appropriate information board,
  • glass doors are contrast-marked,
  • elevator buttons are in relief.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • the sales counter is properly lit and allows lip reading and reading facial expressions,
  • the sales counter is positioned so there are no windows behind it.

Shortcomings

Mobility impaired:

  • the access route to the building is not properly implemented,
  • the sales counter is not height-adjusted for wheelchair users.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • the access route to the building is not properly implemented,
  • the sales counter is not directly near the entrance,
  • the path to the distant sales counter is not marked.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • the sales counter is not equipped with a hearing loop for hard of hearing persons.
