Description of the facility

The bookstore and stationery shop is partially accessible.
The bus stop is nearby and accessible via the sidewalk. Adapted parking spaces are located in the market parking lot close to the entrance.
All store areas are on the ground floor and accessible via an external ramp. The platform in front of the sliding doors is of inadequate size, which, combined with limited maneuvering space, makes independent entry difficult for wheelchair users. During opening hours, the main sliding entrance doors are open, which facilitates access.
The sales counter and most of the main space are fully accessible. In parts of the main space, there are narrow passages between shelves and pillars, where maneuvering space for wheelchair users is insufficient. Lighting in the space is adequate. The bookstore additionally offers a reading corner and children’s books in Braille. Assistance is provided by staff.
The building does not have adapted sanitary facilities.

Adaptations

Mobility impaired:

  • the main entrance is partially accessible,
  • there is an adapted parking space near the entrance,
  • the main entrance has automatic (sliding) doors.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • the entrance is clearly recognizable,
  • glass doors are contrast-marked,
  • sales areas are well-lit,
  • there are no sudden transitions from bright to dark spaces,
  • adapted Braille materials for children are available.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • the sales counter is properly lit and allows lip reading and facial expression reading,
  • the sales counter is positioned so that there are no windows behind it.

Shortcomings

Mobility impaired:

  • the sales counter is not height-adjusted for wheelchair users,
  • independent entry is difficult due to insufficient maneuvering space at the beginning and end of the ramp (if sliding doors are closed),
  • in parts of the main space, the arrangement of book shelves does not allow wheelchair access,
  • the building does not have adapted sanitary facilities.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • the path to the distant sales counter is not marked.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • the sales counter is not equipped with a hearing loop for hard of hearing persons.
