UIRS accessibility assessment
Description of the facility
The Mladinska knjiga bookstore branch in the Aleja shopping center in Ljubljana – Šiška is partially accessible.
The bus stop is located in the immediate vicinity of Aleja, on the sidewalk near the main and side entrances. The building has three entrances in total – two main ones and one side entrance. The accessible route from the bus stop is partially marked with ground markings.
Adapted parking spaces are located in the parking lot near the second main entrance and in the underground parking garage of the Aleja building. From the Aleja parking garage, one can reach the shopping center by elevator or escalator. Mladinska knjiga is located on the 2nd floor of the building.
The entrance doors to the Mladinska knjiga bookstore are always open. The door frame contrasts with the glass walls, but the entrance itself is not marked with contrasting strips.
There are no stairs or other level differences inside the store. Lighting is adequate. There is generally not enough maneuvering space between the shelves, as tables with products further limit it. Some shelves are too high, while product tables are lower and therefore easier to reach.
Signs in the store are appropriately contrasted but not large enough. The product prices are too small. The store does not offer books adapted for people with special needs, but audiobooks are available through the Mladinska knjiga PLUS app (a monthly or annual subscription is required).
There is enough maneuvering space at the cash register, but it is not height-adjusted for wheelchair users. There are no hearing loops in the store.
Adapted sanitary facilities are provided as part of the Aleja shopping center.
