Description of the facility

Slovanska Library is easily accessible.
The bus stop is located in the immediate vicinity and can be reached via the sidewalk. Adapted parking spaces are located near the entrance to the building, but they are not of appropriate dimensions. Stairs and a ramp lead to the library’s entrance doors.
Slovanska Library is located in the same building as Bežigrad Library (which is also evaluated and included in the system), but on an upper floor accessible by stairs or elevator.
The reception desk is located near the entrance to the Slovanska Library. A hearing loop is available, but it is not clearly marked.
Materials from the storage are provided by staff. For studying and research, there are study and newspaper reading rooms. The study room offers little maneuvering space due to the amount and arrangement of furniture. The upper level of the study room is only accessible by stairs. There is enough maneuvering space in the newspaper reading room.
Lighting in both reading rooms can be uneven and disturbing due to the many windows in the space. The windows can be covered with blinds.
Adapted sanitary facilities are located near the entrance to the building.

Adjustments

Mobility impaired:

  • an adapted parking space is located near the entrance,
  • the main entrance to the building is accessible,
  • the main entrance to the building has automatic (sliding) doors,
  • the ramp is properly constructed and can be used independently,
  • the reception desk is height-adjusted for wheelchair users,
  • the building has a sufficiently large elevator for wheelchair users,
  • the building has adapted sanitary facilities available.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • the entrance to the building is clearly recognizable,
  • the reception desk is located near the entrance,
  • signs and inscriptions in the building are at appropriate heights,
  • signs and inscriptions in the building are contrasting and legible,
  • elevator buttons are tactile,
  • there are no obstacles or dangerous objects in the building.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • the reception desk is equipped with a hearing loop,
  • the glazing of the reception desk is not reflective or glaring,
  • the premises are properly soundproofed.

Deficiencies

Mobility impaired:

  • the adapted parking space is not of appropriate dimensions, but it is marked,
  • the ramp does not have the appropriate slope,
  • height differences inside are not adequately bridged,
  • there is not enough maneuvering space inside for wheelchair users.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • the information board at the main entrance is not appropriate,
  • glass doors are not marked with contrast,
  • the reception desk window is not marked with contrast,
  • there are sudden transitions from bright to dark areas inside the building,
  • the edges of the stairs are not marked with contrast.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • the reception desk is positioned so that there are windows behind it,
  • the hearing loop at the reception desk is not clearly marked.
