UIRS accessibility assessment
Description of the facility
Šiška Library is well accessible.
The bus stop is located in the immediate vicinity. The path to the building is unmarked. Near the entrance, there is a metal fence on the sidewalk, which is marked with contrast, but it poses a danger to blind people, as it is difficult to detect with a white cane. The adapted parking spaces in front of the entrance are of inadequate dimensions. From the street to the entrance level, there is a properly arranged ramp with a small slope.
The library is part of a larger business-residential complex and extends over the ground floor and first floor. The entrance is clearly marked; the entrance doors do not open automatically, but they remain open during library opening hours.
In the lobby, there is the main lending desk, which is equipped with a hearing loop. There is also a self-checkout machine. In addition to the main area with bookshelves, the building includes a reading room, newspaper reading room, children’s story room, and information desks.
Restrooms are located on both floors, but only the ground floor ones are adapted for people with physical disabilities. On the upper floor, restrooms are locked and can be opened with an Urbana card.
The first floor is accessible via properly arranged stairs and an elevator. All interior communications are clearly marked with appropriately large and contrasting signs, equipped with pictograms.
