Description of the facility

The library is well accessible. The entrance is located in a covered atrium, accessible from two streets (Slovenska or Gosposvetska).
Access to the entrance is via stairs or a steep ramp. Lighting at the entrance is poor.

The library spans multiple floors and has an elevator. The reception desk is not immediately visible to users and is located on the right side of the entrance.
All floors provide sufficient maneuvering space between shelves, study tables, and counters.
Adapted restrooms are available. The basement hall is not equipped with a hearing loop.
The library offers large-print books, e-books, audiobooks, and magnifiers. Most materials and services are also available online.
Staff member with knowledge of sign language is present.

Adaptations

Mobility impaired:

  • Main entrance to the building is accessible,
  • Reception desk is height-adjusted,
  • Interior level differences are properly bridged,
  • Building has an elevator of suitable dimensions,
  • Sufficient maneuvering space inside,
  • Basement hall has movable seating,
  • Adapted restrooms are available,
  • Bookshelves are arranged to allow wheelchair access.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • Building is marked with an appropriate information board,
  • No sudden transitions from light to dark areas,
  • Signs and labels are at appropriate heights and are contrastive and readable,
  • Elevator buttons are tactile (relief),
  • Library provides adapted materials (e-books, audiobooks, large-print books).

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • Sign language interpreter available,
  • Reception desk is well-lit and allows lip reading and facial expression reading,
  • Reception glass is non-reflective (temporary glazing),
  • Spaces are adequately soundproofed.

Deficiencies

Mobility impaired:

  • No parking space near the entrance,
  • Ramp in front of the main entrance is poorly designed and does not allow independent use.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • Access to the entrance is difficult due to complex building layout and poor signage,
  • Poor lighting at the entrance,
  • Reception window is not contrast-marked,
  • Glass doors are not contrast-marked,
  • Edges of stairs are not contrast-marked.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • Reception desk and basement hall are not equipped with a hearing loop.
