Description of the facility

The library is inaccessible for wheelchair users and partially accessible for other persons with disabilities.
There is an adapted parking space near the entrance, but it is of inadequate dimensions.

A bus stop is located nearby, with access to the entrance via an uneven path without tactile markings.

The raised entrance is not clearly recognizable. Two staircases lead to it, while wheelchair access is possible via a paved path around the building.

The library spaces are located in the attic, accessible only via stairs. There is no elevator or lift platform. The entrance doors to the library are difficult to detect due to low contrast of materials and markings.

The reception desk, height-adjusted for wheelchair users, is located immediately at the library entrance. It is not equipped with a hearing loop, and windows behind the desk can hinder lip-reading.

The library has central shelving with materials, a computer area, and a reading room. In the rear, there is a raised platform (three steps) for the children’s corner. The steps are not bridged with a ramp or lift platform.

The library interior is poorly lit. Due to insufficient maneuvering space, front access to materials with a wheelchair is difficult. Some shelves are too high or too low for wheelchair users. Step-arranged magazine shelves are also inaccessible.

Because some shelves are placed too close to walls, main passages to the rear of the library are too narrow. Along the sides, the sloped ceiling drops to 1.5 m. Shelves under the slope are unmarked and unprotected, creating a significant collision hazard.

The library provides large-print books and also allows online borrowing of audiobooks.

There are no adapted sanitary facilities in the building.

  • The reception desk is located immediately at the library entrance,

  • Signs and labels inside the library are mostly not contrastive or legible,
  • There are sudden transitions from bright to dark areas inside the library,
  • Edges of stairs are not contrast-marked.

Deaf and hard of hearing:

  • The reception desk is not equipped with a hearing loop,
  • The reception desk is not properly lit and does not allow lip-reading or reading facial expressions.
