Description of the facility

Hotel Apollo is poorly accessible. The bus stop is distant, and the path between the stop and the hotel is steep and in some parts additionally hazardous, as the pavement is either not deep enough or too narrow. There are no parking spaces directly in front of the hotel, but there is an area for short-term vehicle stopping. The nearest parking for mobility-impaired guests is about 50 m from the hotel entrance, poorly lit, and undersized.
The hotel has a single entrance. From the hotel lobby, a covered passage leads left to Term Portorož (stairs on both sides of the passage). The reception area is near the hotel entrance. The hotel is equipped with an elevator, but access to the ground-floor bar and some rooms on the mezzanine is only possible via stairs. From the bar, it is possible to move to nearby hotels, also only via stairs.
Lighting in the hotel is inconsistent; the lobby and restaurant are well-lit, while corridors are poorly lit in some areas. The hotel has designated accessible rooms, but they are not properly adapted for people with disabilities. An inspection of a larger guest room revealed limited maneuvering space in the entrance area, on both sides of the bed, and in the bathroom for wheelchair users.
The hotel restaurant has sufficient space; counters are at an appropriate height, and most signage is visible and readable.
The facility is not equipped with hearing loops. There are no adapted sanitary facilities.

Shortcomings

  • the hotel has no adapted sanitary facilities,
  • the hotel does not have properly adapted rooms for mobility-impaired guests.

Blind and visually impaired:

  • no signage is available at the main entrance,
  • glass doors are not contrast-marked,
  • there are sudden transitions from bright to dark areas,
  • some signage in the building is not at appropriate heights,
  • some signage is not contrastive or readable,
  • stair edges are not contrast-marked,
  • dangerous objects impede the path – stairs leading to the bar and stairs inside the bar,
