UIRS accessibility assessment
Description of the facility
The castle is inaccessible for wheelchair users and only partially accessible for other persons with disabilities. The access path from the parking area to the castle is 130 m long, unpaved (gravel), and sloped, making independent use by wheelchair users impossible.
The reception desk, gift shop, and chapel at the main entrance are accessed via two steps. Exhibition spaces on the ground floor are accessible directly from the castle courtyard, but the entrances have high unbridged thresholds or steps. One of the rooms serves as a small hall with movable chairs.
Access to the first floor, which contains the wedding hall and additional exhibition rooms, is possible only via stairs. The halls are not equipped with hearing loops. Access to the castle tavern is also only by stairs, while the castle terrace is conditionally accessible from the outside due to unsuitable paving.
The courtyard paving is too rough, preventing independent wheelchair movement.
There are no adapted restrooms; the toilets are accessible only via stairs from the courtyard.
Adaptations:
People with mobility impairments:
- No adaptations.
People who are blind or visually impaired:
- The entrance to the building is clearly recognizable, but orientation to individual rooms is difficult,
- The reception desk is located near the castle entrance,
- The edges of some curbs, thresholds, and stairs are marked with contrast.
People who are deaf or hard of hearing:
- No adaptations.
Deficiencies:
People with mobility impairments:
- The designated accessible parking space is not properly marked,
- The main entrance to the building is inaccessible (due to the steep gravel access path),
- The rear entrance from the terrace is inaccessible (due to steps leading to the atrium),
- The access path to the main entrance is too steep and inadequately paved,
- Height differences and door thresholds inside are not properly bridged,
- There is no elevator in the building,
- The reception desk is not height-adjusted for wheelchair users,
- There are no adapted sanitary facilities,
- Exhibits in the exhibition rooms are not placed at suitable heights.
People who are blind or visually impaired:
- Orientation inside the building is difficult, and there is no tactile floor plan at the entrance,
- There are sudden transitions from bright to dark areas,
- No exhibits allow tactile exploration of the displayed materials.
People who are deaf or hard of hearing:
- The hall and the wedding hall are not equipped with a hearing loop system.
