One of the activities of the project All-Slovenian Awareness Campaign on the Social Inclusion of People with Disabilities, implemented by the National Council of Disabled People’s Organizations of Slovenia (NSIOS), is a traveling photographic exhibition by the renowned photographer Primož Lavre titled No Different Life. The exhibition stems from his 2016 exhibit No Different Mom, in which he photographed mothers of children with special needs. With this new exhibition, he aims to continue presenting diverse stories of people with disabilities that break taboos and successfully make use of their strengths. He invited 25 people to stand before the camera. The photography sessions took place in environments familiar to the disabled, where they work or live. The photos form a cohesive whole, with each image hiding a unique story: “With this exhibition, I want to convey that we should take inspiration from those who are deprived of many things but still live a full life,” says Primož Lavre. The exhibition was first presented on November 22 at the Brdo Congress Centre. The excellent photographs, with their powerful message, enriched the annual conference of the Trilateral Commission of Slovenia titled “Dialogue for the Future,” which brings reflection on the theme of strengthening the culture of dialogue with thoughts on new paradigms of social progress, leading to a socially just, economically competitive, and culturally empowered Slovenia. At the conference, the keynote speaker was mag. Urška Klakočer Zupančič, the President of the National Assembly. She said: “The world is not black and white or even black-gray. It is very colorful and diverse. And that, for me, is the greatest advantage and hope for our global community. When we understand and accept this diversity, we may succeed in laying down different, better foundations for coexistence on our small planet. And this, in my opinion, is the path to the long-term sustainability of our civilization.”The exhibition will travel to various locations across Slovenia and is also expected to go beyond Slovenia’s borders, about which we will inform the public through the media, our website, and Facebook profile.Text: Kreativna baza
